Lean Manufacturing
techniques originated with in the Toyota Production
System (TPS).Toyota focused on adopting an integrated
approach to the production process while ensuring resources
were utilized as efficiently as possible.
Lead Techniques focus
on eliminating waste with in an organization. This is
done via the streamlining of planning and production
systems.Although the tools & techniques utilized
are relatively simple, efforts to transform an organization
into a lean enterprise require a cross functional, process-centric
approach. In order to be truly effective, lean initiatives
must encompass all direct and indirect(support) functions
throughout the value chain. This often involves a significant
element of change management. Although tradiotionally
utilized in manufacturing, lean techniques apply equally
well to office environment.

What is difference
between Lean and Six
Sigma?
The Lean focus is primarily
on eliminating waste, whereas Six Sigma's focus is primarily
on reducing variability. This is not an 'either/or' proposition
since they complement each other and indeed share common
tools. The appropriate methodology and tools depends
entirely upon the improvement opportunity at hand.
QGS provides training
and consulting to support your effort to "Be Lean".
We have successfully led and supported Lead-Sigma initiatives
at several client sites.
